The Lighthouse Bakery School is based at Ockham, between the picturesque villages of Bodiam and Ewhurst Green in East Sussex.  The site was originally owned by Guinness as the centre for their hop production in the area.  Guinness managed acres and acres of hops all around Bodiam, though very little of this remains today.  The building in which the bakery and school are housed  was called Ockham Works, where all the machinery for the hop gardens was maintained and serviced.  There was originally a large oast house on the site, but sadly this has gone along with Guinness and hop production in the area.

Ockham is also the home to Natural Farms, suppliers of high quality meat to both trade and individuals.  They are pioneers of the values of traceability, high standards of animal welfare, and sustainable farming methods.

Eventually, the site will be developed by Tony Meredith, owner of Natural Farms, as a local food hub, where local producers will share a single site, distribution, expertise, ideas and a training centre.  The Lighthouse Bakery is proud to be the flagship tenant for this exciting new enterprise.
